On January 2, 2026, I visited the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum with my wife and my first-grade son.
It was snowy, and the whole trip already felt special before we even entered the museum. This was our second visit, but it still felt fresh. The guided explanation tour made a big difference.
A snowy morning made the museum feel special
We started the morning at Fukui Station and bought rice balls before heading to the museum. Small things like that stay in memory when you travel with family.
The museum building and dinosaur monument looked beautiful in the snow. It felt like the right beginning for a New Year family trip.

The guided tour made the second visit fun
Because it was our second time, I wondered if it would feel familiar. But the guided tour changed that.
When someone explains the exhibits, the same displays feel different. Details that I might have passed by became much easier to understand.

The dinosaur mummy stayed in my memory
The most impressive exhibit for me was the dinosaur mummy. Skeletons are powerful, but the mummy had a different kind of impact.
It made me stop and look closely.

The museum is good for families
The museum is not only for looking quietly. There are hands-on areas too, and that helps children stay interested.
My son could enjoy the scale of the fossils, and adults could enjoy the explanations and display design.

The XR bus made the trip feel complete
On the way back to Fukui Station, we rode a sightseeing XR bus. That also became part of the memory.
The museum, the snow, the family photos, and the ride home all connected into one good day.
