If you like a song in Suno but want to change only the vocal character, there is a practical workflow that works surprisingly well.
The shortest path is to create a reference voice first, turn that into a Persona, and then apply it through Cover while keeping Style Influence at 100%.

This method is useful when you want to preserve the original song mood but replace the singer.
Preparation
1. Generate a sample song for the target voice
First, create one song that represents the voice you want. Think of it as a voice reference, not the final output.
For example, if you want a younger female vocal instead of a male one, generate a sample track with that voice profile first.
2. Turn that sample into a Persona
From the sample song menu, use the following flow:
CreateMake Persona- save it with a clear name
That Persona becomes the base voice you will apply later.
Note: Persona creation may require a paid plan depending on your account tier.
How to change the vocal on the original song
3. Open Cover from the original track
On the original song, open Remix/Edit and then choose Cover.
4. Apply the Persona
At the top of the settings, choose +Persona and select the Persona you created in step 2.
5. Set Style Influence to 100%
This is the key setting if you want to keep the original musical direction while prioritizing the vocal swap.
If you also want the arrangement or mood to drift more, lower the value and experiment. But if the goal is “same song, different singer,” 100% is the cleanest starting point.
6. Generate and compare
After generation, compare the result with the original track. You are checking two things at once:
- whether the vocal character changed enough
- whether the original song feeling stayed intact
What happened in my test
In my own test, the rap vocal changed from a male voice to a female one while keeping the song direction close to the original. That made the workflow feel repeatable rather than luck-based.
The shortest version of the workflow
- make a sample voice track
- convert it into a Persona
- open Cover on the original song
- apply the Persona
- set Style Influence to 100%
- generate and compare
Summary
If your goal is “keep the song, change the singer,” Suno can do it more reliably than it first appears.
The combination of Persona plus Cover is the practical route, and Style Influence at 100% is the setting that makes the result hold together.
